IAC BOWLING: CANDOR, NEWARK VALLEY EARN SPLIT (2019-01-15)
Tioga County Sports ReportNEWARK VALLEY - The Newark Valley boys and Candor girls teams registered 4-0 sweeps in IAC action at Cardinal Lanes here Tuesday.
BOYSNV won by scores of 909-580, 838-617 and 954-640 to take the total pinfall, 2701-1837.
The victory lifted the Cardinals into second place in the Large School standings with a 28-16 record. Watkins Glen leads the way with a 33-11 record while Waverly and Union Springs / Port Byron are tied for third at 28-12. .
NV's Alex Umiker rolled games of 245 and 213 on the way to a high series of 634. Sam Umiker scored a 208-586 and Kyle Pratt shot a 217-544. Jason Brown had a 166-478 and John Fiacco had a 139-372.
For Candor, Garrett Lindhorst had a 159-452, Ethan Howe rolled a 145-376, Matt Finch had a 131-360, Devin Benesh contributed a 128-328, Carson Howe had a 136-309, and Storm Andrews added a 270 series.
GIRLSThe Small School division is a two-team race and the Candor Indians (33-11) are hanging on to a slight leader over the Odessa-Montour Indians (30-14).
Candor defeated NV by scores of 704-480, 777-631 and 661-537, giving the Indians the total pinfall, 2142-1648.
Sarah Emond registered a 155-439. Alexis Karabec posted a 171-425. Olivia Bennett rolled a 182-410. Stacy Emond shot a 157-405. May Marsh added a 143-386 and Kaitlyn Johnston chipped in with a 138-386.
Lauren Gwardayak paced NV with a 160-371 and Rosie Hines scored a 137-370. Victoria Mellem shot a 141-366, Kori Hall had a 119-299, and Hunter Gorlsine nd Hunter Williams had series of 241 and 223, respectively.
Newark Valley will host Waverly today and Candor hosts Marathon at Owego Bowl Friday.
