IAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: S-VE FALLS TO DIVISION-LEADING NEWFIELD (2019-01-15)

Tioga County Sports Report
SPENCER - S-VE was hoping to give the IAC South Small School leader a battle and early on they did, but the more experienced and once-beaten Newfield Trojans had other ideas, pulling away for a 67-31 victory here Tuesday evening.

The Panthers trailed 16-9 after one quarter, Kelly Moravic's three 3-pointers keeping the Trojans out in front.

"We played a very intense first quarter," S-VE head coach Abby Gentile said. "Unfortunately, we couldn't follow that up in the second and dug a huge hole for ourselves."

Newfield would hold S-VE to six points in the second period while chalking up 24 to make it 40-15 at halftime. Kelly Moravic added seven more points to her output. Katie Moravic added nine points, going 5-for-6 at the free throw line.

Katie Moravic tacked on another eight points in the third quarter as the Trojans increased their advantage to 57-24.
