Tioga County Sports ReportCANDOR / POPLAR RIDGE - IAC South Small School division leader Candor posted a pair of crossover victories last week to improve to 9-3 on the season.
Tuesday
Candor 58, Moravia 46Moravia would grab a 21-17 first-quarter lead, but the Indians' defense would hold the Blue Devils to seven points in the second quarter, surging ahead 31-28 at the half.
Joey Marsh posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. He also dished out two assists. Joel Dougherty scored a game-high 24 points, including two 3-pointers, and grabbed four steals. Hunter Haynes contributed six points, five rebounds, five steals and three assists; Bryce Mills scored 12 points and snagged three steals; Cooper Thayer pulled down seven rebounds; and Will Zimmer added five points.
Friday
Candor 51, Southern Cayuga 46The Indians won on the road in a tightly-contested battle. Candor led by a point, 10-9, after a quarter, 26-23 at the half and 40-33 heading into the fourth quarter.
Bryce Mills knocked down four treys, scoring game-high 21 points, and pulled down six rebounds and grabbed three steals. Joey Marsh chipped in 16 points, including three threes, and hauled in eight rebounds and had steals. Joel Dougherty added five points, five rebounds and five steals; Cooper Thayer had six rebounds and Will Zimmer had five rebounds.
Candor hosts Tioga Tuesday.
