THE WEEK AHEAD: WRESTLING STEALS THE SPOTLIGHT (2018-01-13)

Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY - Wrestling steals the spotlight this week with the Section IV Dual Meet Wrestling Championships being held Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by the IAC Wrestling Championships coming to Tioga County Saturday.

There will also be a full slate of basketball games,as well as bowling, swimming, and indoor track & field events.

Following are some, but not all, of this week's top clashes. (A complete listing of all events for the week can be found on the school pages.)

MONDAY
• The Owego bowling team visits Johnson City.

TUESDAY
• The Section IV Division II Wrestling Championships will feature sixth-seeded Owego against defending champion Norwich. No. 1 Tioga, which received a wild-card entry to the state championships last year, is the top seed.

WEDNESDAY
• Owego hosts defending Section IV champion U-E in bowling.

THURSDAY
• The  Candor and Newark Valley bowling teams host IAC matches.

FRIDAY
• Basketball headlines the action with the Candor and Newark Valley boys, and S-VE girls hosting IAC opponents.

SATURDAY
• The IAC Wrestling Championships come to Tioga County with Waverly as the host. Tioga is the defending champion. Newark Valley, the 2017 champ, was last year's runner-up. SVEC placed third the past two seasons.

• Owego will compete in the STAC Wrestling Championships at Johnson City.
