DRYDEN - Newark Valley shut down Dryden in the middle to quarter to roll to a 58-9 IAC JV crossover victory here Tuesday.

After bolting to a 20-3 first-quarter advantage, the Cardinals held the Purple Lions scoreless in the second period to build a 34-3 cushion at the half.  NV extended its lead to 42-3 heading into the final period.

Makana Gardner led the first-quarter assault with six points, and Jasmine Graham and Taylor Benjamin tacked on five apiece. Benjamin added five more in the second period, including a 3-pointer, and Graham contributed another five points.

Graham finished the night with 15 points, eight rebounds and seven steals; and Benjamin had 15 points, eight steals and five boards. Gardner had eight points, four assists, three steals and a block; Hayley Beebe chipped in with eight assists, six rebounds, five steals and four points; Allison Walker had seven rebounds, four points, four steals, three assists and one block, Kalyna Graham grabbed nine rebounds and Rachael Walker pitched in with eight points.

Katie Daley and Emma Stahlman led Dryden with four points apiece.

Newark Valley hosts Whitney Point Friday.
