OWEGO — Owego honored its seniors with a 16-6 romp over Oneonta in Section IV boys lacrosse action Friday evening.

“Coming off the last few games that we've played, this was nice,” coach Craig Nevins said. “It was a nice win for us. We were able to move the ball around and get the ball to a bunch of different guys tonight, and kind of spread the wealth a little bit.

“I think that'll really help us moving forward as far as morale and going into the tail end of our season.”

The River Hawks’ Caleb Cole scored the first goal of the contest on a feed from Atlas Boland at 7:54.

Owego then broke a 1-1 deadlock just past the midway point of the first quarter and took control with a four-goal burst.

Noah Heath scored at 5:30, Sawyer Prentiss at 4:35, Boland at 4:39 and Brendan Schofield at 4:09 to make it 5-1. Cole, Boland and Heath registered assists with Heath getting two.

The Yellowjackets scored twice before the end of the period to close the gap to 5-3, but Owego racked up a half-dozen more goals before halftime.

Schofield scored unassisted at 9:32, then Prentiss tallied at 8:04 and 3:43. Oneonta found the back of the net in between the Prentiss goals, but Owego recorded the final four goals of the first half.

After the Prentiss hat trick made it 8-4, Boland wrapped two goals around one by Cole to give the River Hawks an 11-4 cushion at the break.

Boland recorded three assists, Cole added two and Heath tacked on one in the second quarter.

The third period was relatively quiet with Boland assisting Heath at 2:37 and Brycen Heyman dishing a helper off to Lucas Boccasini with 41 seconds on the clock to make it 13-4.

Boland flipped one behind his back and in the goal at 9:37 of the final stanza with Heyman getting another assist.

Prentiss scored on a pass from Cole at 7:17, but the Jackets retaliated with a pair of goals 38 seconds apart to make it 15-6.

Isaiah Kochis registered the final goal of the night on a feed from Schofield.

Boland recorded four goals, five assists and six ground balls on the evening; Prentiss had four goals; Cole added three goals, four assists and two ground balls; Schofield added two goals, an assist and scooped up two ground balls; and Heath contributed two goals, three assists and two ground balls.

Kochis recorded one goal and one ground ball; Mykal Henning, Shay Pidcoe and Garrett Phelps had two ground balls apiece; and Dominick Cheeseman, Kaiden Jones, Dominic Scherrer, Kaden Krohmalney, Evan Ward, Antoni Talarico, John Swackhammer, Aiden Rhodes and Mason Wold tacked on one ground ball each.

Rhodes made three saves in goal and Ryder Cronk had two.

Nevins was also happy that he was able to get so many players in on the action.

“It was important for me in a game where we're doing the things we're supposed to be doing and moving the ball well to be able to get those guys in,” he said. “And especially on senior night. A lot of guys had family come out and so I wanted them to be able to watch their family member come out and play and put on a good show and have a good time.”

The River Hawks’ seniors are Dominick Cheeseman, Noah Heath, Mykal Henning, Isaiah Kochis, Kaden Krohmalney, Samuel Nowetner, Brendan Schofield, John Swackhammer and Evan Ward.

Owego (4-8) hosts Johnson City next Friday.
