ELMIRA SOUTHSIDE - Sophomore Joey Woodmansee was Newark Valley's lone grappler to make the podium here Saturday at the newly-minted Dave Buck Memorial Tournament here at Elmira High School.

Sophomore Cameron Carrier, junior Noah Shiel, and freshman Connor Jacobson each finished the day with 3-2 record, but did not finish in the top five in their weight class. Freshman Noah Waterman was 2-3.

Elmira won its own tournament - fromerly the Elmira Christmas Tournament - for the fifth consecutive year with 145 points. Tioga tallied 117 points, while Chenango Forks was third with 85 points, Marcellus was fourth with 60, and Canandaigua was fifth with 56 points.

Woodmansee posted a 4-1 record to finish fourth in the 195-pound weight class.

Woodmansee lost his first match of the day to eventual champ Trai Collins of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill via first-period fall.

He bounced back with a 4-0 win over Edison's Angelo Steinhauer, then forged an 8-0 major decision over Marcus Whitman-Penn Yan's Alec Benson.

Woodmansee then pinned Tioga's Jared Lamb in 1:34, and closed out the day with a pin of Elmira's Zack Marrow in 1:54.

Cameron Carrier was 3-2 at 170 pounds, registering two pins and a technical fall. Carrier forged a 16-1 technical fall of U-E's Gavvan Shabazz, and pinned Ithaca' s Nick Tubbs in 63 seconds, and Marcus Whitman / Penn Yan's Brendan Hawley in 56 seconds.

Noah Shiel was 3-2 152 pounds. He registered a pin of Chenango Forks' Robert Arciolla in 5:55, and recorded wins over Chad Smith of Marcus Whitman / Penn Yan, and Tanner Jones of Moravia.

Connor Jacobson was 3-2 at 160 pounds. Jacobson opened his day with a pin of William Rosario of Marcus Whitman / Penn Yan in 4:43. He also notched a 7-4 win over Chenango Forks' Lee Abbey, and a 6-1 win over Moravia's Bryan Richards.

Noah Waterman 2-3 at 120 His wins were a 4-2 decision over U-E's Colby Bendick, and a pin of Edison's Jordan Taylor in 3:46.

Mark Vosburgh was 1-4 at 126 pounds. He opened the day with a 7-5 decision over Jayden Reid of Marcus Whitman / Penn Yan.

Freshman Collin Rupert was 0-4 at 182 pounds.
