ATHENS - Owego collected a trio of second-place finishes and had one third to finish sixth out of 11 team at the Jarvis Wildcat Memorial Tournament here Saturday.

The Indians' runners-up were Andrew Laubach at 132 pounds, Cam Bundy at 170 and Tyler Benjamin at 195. Jacob Morris took third at 120.

Laubach pinned his first four opponents, dispatching Kyle Martin of State College in 55 seconds, Hunter Teboe of Falconer in 3:26, Bobby Zelinski of Scranton in 57 seconds and Lucas Forbes from Athens in 1:02. He dropped a 4-2 heartbreaker to Owen Wormuth of Deposit / Hancock in the first-place match.

Bundy posted falls in his first three bouts, decking Josiah Iose of State College in 2:40, Tanner Smith of Coughlin in 3:26 and Scranton's Hayden D'Angelo in 2:45. IN the first place match, he lost to Mariana Bracetti Academy's Angel Garcia by a 17-2 technical fall.

Benjamin's only loss of the day came in his first match of the 11-team round robin event. He fell by pin to eventual champ Cole Urbas (ranked fourth nationally) of State College by pin in 1:54. He responded with a 21-second fall over Sean Wakefield of Massabesic (Maine), then decked Hudson Johnson of Falconer in 1:48. Benjamin won over Athens' Dylan Comstock by injury default and decisioned Scranton's Justin Diaz, 6-3.

Morris opened with a 12-3 major decision over Breyden Smith of Scranton, then pinned Hunter Steves of Massabesic in 1:20. He fell by pins to Jayden Pahler of Coughlin and Clayton Leiby of State College.

Austin Culver (160) and Mike Bridge (220) just missed making the podium, placing fourth.

Culver scored a 14-1 major decision over Falconer's Jacob Booth, then fell to Massabesic's Noah Hernandez by pin in 1:23. He topped Coughlin's Chad Regan with a fall in 2:16 before losing a 17-7 major decision to Bruce Baglia of Falconer.

Bridge suffered pins against Scranton's Brandon Crusen in 2:56 and Coughlin's Conner Lee in 1:10. He came back with a fall over Chase Johnson of Falconer in 4:16, lost to Athen's Ben Pernaselli, 5-2, then finished the day with a pin of Massabesic's Tyler Ayers in 3:06.

Also competing for the Indians were Hunter Martin, who went 2-3 at 132; and Matt Laubach (106), Avery Middendorf (132) and Zach Miner (152), all f whom went 1-3 on the day.

Owego ended the day with 111 points. Falconer, out of Section VI in New York, won the team championship with 231.5 points and State College was second with 190. Rounding out the top five were Coughlin (179.5), Athens (147.5) and Scranton (144.5).

The Indians return to STAC dual meet action Wednesday at U-E.
