IAC GIRLS BASKETBALL: NEWARK VALLEY SLOWS CANDOR DOWN EARLY IN 59-36 VICTORY (2018-12-07)

NEWARK VALLEY - Mackenna Nechwedowich registered a double-double, and Bri Beebe and Gracie Gardner scored in double figures as Newark Valley defeated Candor, 59-36, in IAC action Friday.
Nechwedowich scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Beebe registered a game-high 16 points and Gardner added 13.

The Cardinals held their guests to single digits in the first two quarters to take a 28-13 lead into the break. Beebe and Nechwedowich scored six points apiece in the first half.

Gardner collected nine points in the third while Beebe canned two of her three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. She also went 4-for-4 at the free throw line.

Nechwedowich also contributed three assists and two blocks, and Liz Ferguson handed out four assists.

Brainy Hornick paced the Indians with eight points, and Searra Allen and Jennah Kareem added six apiece.

On Tuesday, Candor (1-2) hosts Newfield and Newark Valley (2-1) hosts Notre Dame.
