COLLEGE CROWD: S-VE GRAD ALPERT COMPETES IN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS (2018-11-19)

ITHACA - S-VE grad Grady Alpert posted a 1-2 record at the 50th annual New York State Intercollegiate Championships at Cornell University Sunday. The Ithaca College freshman was competing at 174 pounds.

Alpert opened the tournament with a tough 9-8 loss to Stephen Illicete of Farmingdale State.

In the consolation bracket, he received a medical forfeit over Niagara Community College's Thomas Berner. His final match was a 17-3 loss to LIU-Post's James Langan.

The Bombers, ranked third in Division III, finished second overall with 89 1/2 points. The United States Military Academy (Army) won the team title with 99.

Ithaca returns to action Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at the New Standard Spartan Invitational at York College in York, Pennsylvania.
