COLLEGE FOOTBALL: OWEGO GRAD GLADNEY NAMED LIBERTY LEAGUE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (2018-11-13)

TROY, N.Y. - Owego grad Will Gladney has been named the Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year. Gladney ended the regular season with 54 catches for 634 yards and six touchdowns. The Ithaca College junior wide receiver became Ithaca's all-time career leader in receptions and receiving yardage, and finished second in the league with 6.8 receptions per game.

Gladney, who missed two games due to injury, was named Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week on Oct. 15 after catching eight passes for a school-record 153 yards and two touchdowns against Union.  

Teammate Pat Minogue, a senior linebacker, was named Defensive Player of the Year.

The Bombers went 8-2 this season, but were overlooked for an at-large bid to the NCAA DIVISION III National Championships despite a 13-7 loss to then-No. 5 Brockport (ranked No. 5 when they played) and a 10-9 setback against Liberty League champion and 20th-ranked RPI. The NCAA gives out just six at-large berths for the D-3 tournament.

Ithaca College senior linebacker Pat Minogue was voted the Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year. He led the Bombers in tackles with 80. Ithaca led the Liberty League in both total defense and scoring defense.
