THE WEEK AHEAD: SECTION IV POSTSEASON HITS FULL STRIDE (2018-10-29)
Tioga County Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY - Cross country, girls swimming and volleyball join the Section IV postseason fray this week, which also crowns champions in football, and boys and girls soccer.
Following is a list of all the events involving Tioga County teams.
MONDAY (1)• In girls soccer, Waverly faces the state's No. 1 team, top-seeded Chenango Forks, in the Section IV Class B championship game at Norwich
TUESDAY (3)• Candor is 18-0 and seeded No. 1 in Class D volleyball. The Indians will face Unatego or Deposit / Hancock. Tioga entertains Delhi in Class D and Waverly hosts Edison in Class C.
WEDNESDAY (1)• The Owego and Waverly girls swimmers compete in the Section IV Class B preliminaries at Owego.
THURSDAY (4)• The Newark Valley, Owego, SVEC, Tioga and Waverly cross country teams compete at the Section IV championships at Chenango Valley State Park.
• Owego hosts the Section IV Class B volleyball pool play semifinals. If they qualify, Candor and Tioga will compete in the Class D pool play semis, and Waverly in the Class C pool play semis at the highest remaining seed.
FRIDAY (2)• Tioga pursues its seventh Section IV Class D championship in eight years against Greene at Union-Endicott's Ty Cobb Stadium.
• The Owego divers participate in the Section IV Class B championships at Watkins Glen.
SATURDAY (5)• Waverly seeks its fourth Section IV football title against heavily favored Susquehanna Valley in the Class C championship game at Union-Endicott's Ty Cobb Stadium.
• If they qualify, the Owego and Waverly girls swimmers compete in the Section IV Class B finals at Owego.
• If they qualify, the Candor, Owego, Tioga and Waverly volleyball teams compete in the Section IV championships at Corning.
