IAC VOLLEYBALL: CANDOR INCHES CLOSER TO DIVISION TITLE (2018-10-15)

ODESSA - Candor took another step toward claiming the IAC South Small School championship with a 3-0 victory over Odessa-Montour here Monday evening.

The Indians dominated the match, winning by scores of 25-9, 25-8 and 25-10.

With the victory Candor moves one win away from the division title. The Indians are 14-0 with two matches remaining in the regular season. Tioga, which has won the division the past five years, has two losses.

Shelby Swartz registered 11 service points, including five aces, and six kills. Kori Strong added 13 points, including six aces, and Megan Henry contributed 11 points, including three aces. Jennah Kareem chalked up 10 kills, Braelyn Hornick handed out 16 assists, and had three digs, and Kailyn Edwards pitched in with four assists.

Candor hosts Newark Valley Wednesday, then visits Watkins Glen Thursday to close out the regular season.

JV: Candor won, 2-0, with scores of 25-2 and 26-24.

Kadrianna Foster had two kills, Asia Curkendall added seven service points, with five aces, and two assists, Brooke Wilcox handed out two assists, Shelby Soper added an assist and two kills, Selah Ray had two kills, and Brayden Watkins served up 20 points, to include eight aces.
