STAC GIRLS SWIMMING: PIERCE WINS 100 FLY TO LEAD OWEGO TO 5TH AT ELIMIRA INVITE (2018-10-14)
Tioga County Sports ReportELMIRA - Summer Pierce posted a victory in the 100-yard butterfly to lead Owego to a fifth-place showing at the Elmira Invitational this past weekend.
Pierce touched the wall in 57.12 seconds, beating out Maine-Endwell's Maria Pignatelli, who timed in at 59.45 seconds.
Owego also had two runner-up finishes with Pierce clocking 2:11.61 in the 200 individual medley and Kailee Payne scoring 251.7 points in diving.
Both competitors competed in the 400 freestyle relay, teaming with Emma French and Ashleigh Gault for fifth place with a time of 3:57.1.
The Indians are back in action Friday, hosting Ithaca.
Pierce was also part of the fourth-place 200 medley relay. She joined Emma Stephenson, French and Gault to record a time of 1:55.19.
Ithaca won the team title with 269.5 points with Horseheads taking second (234.5). Chenango Valley was third with 192.5 and Greece was fourth (138). Owego followed with 111 points, edging M-E by one point.
The Indians are back in action Friday, hosting Ithaca.
