TIOGA COUNTY - The Newark Valley and SVEC football games have no bearing on the playoff picture, but you can bet both teams are looking for wins in these match-ups.

The Cardinals (5-1) would like to rebound from last week's loss and don't plan on being the first victim for Class B Oneonta (0-6). Meanwhile, SVEC (2-4, 1-2 Div. IV) would like to pick up a win over Whitney Point (4-2, 1-1 Div. IV). Both games start at 1:30 p.m. and the SVEC-WP game is being played at Chenango Valley High School.

Also on today's schedule is a special volleyball gathering - the Dryden Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament - in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Candor and SVEC will be among the teams participating. The first ball will be served up at 9 a.m.

Last but not least, the Owego girls swim team is competing in the finals of the Elmira Invitational, which starts at 9 a.m.
