IAC / STAC GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: SILBA PLACES 3RD, LEADS NV TO 6TH AT HOME INVITE (2018-10-12)

NEWARK VALLEY - Marissa Silba placed third overall, leading Newark Valley to a sixth-place team finish at the Newark Valley / Bob Green Invitational here Friday. The Cardinals were second among IAC schools as Notre Dame took fourth. Waverly, which won the IAC South Division meet here Tuesday, finished seventh.

Silba logged a time of 19:53 and only trailed the Horseheads duo of Madison Klein and Samantha Woolworth at the finish line.

NV's Sophie Stewart placed 18th (21:18.4), Renee Riegal was 28th (21:39), Kristina Knight took 43rd (22:11.3) and Colleen Riegel was 102nd (24:57.8).

Also running for the team were Rosie Hines, 109th (25:17.4); Monica Escalante, 130th (26:29.6); and Charlotte Dunn, 155th (27:57.6).

Owego placed 10th, led by Brittany Sanguinito's 41st-place finish in 22:09.1. Jenna Hunsinger (22:39.7) and Chelsea Corey (22:46.1) were 51st and 52nd, respectively, and Mary-Carol Hoover (23:03.6) and Hannah Monell (23:10.7) were 61st and 62nd, respectively.

Others competing for the Indians were Danielle Knapp, 74th (23:48.5); Alyssa Stephens, 75th (23:55.8); Ella Rieg, 87th (24:22.1); Kaitlyn Ulrich, 98th (24:53); Katherine Gatto, 117th (25:47.4); Alexandria Anderson, 131st (26:29.9); Hailey McHugh, 133rd (26:35.2); Avery Townsand, 137th (26:40.5); Caleb Ferraro, 152nd (27:41.9); Laura Robertson, 164th (29:07.5); Alexandra Fisher, 166th (29:33.6); Marissa Todd, 175th (30:58.8); and Maria Pawlak, 188th (39:38.7).

SVEC didn't have team results posted, but the Eagles were paced by Erin Bruttomesso, who placed 85th with a time of 24:19.4. Mya Marsh took 123rd (26:03.8); Saudra Horackova was 128th (26:22); Delaney Fatcheric finished 141st (26:51.8); and Chelsea Rossen was 186th (35:23.5).
