SECTION IV FIELD HOCKEY: TIOGA COUNTY TEAMS OPEN PLAYOFFS ON THE ROAD (2018-10-11)

TIOGA COUNTY - Newark Valley and SVEC will have tough openers in the Section IV Class C tournament. Meanwhile, Owego will play just one playoff game.

The sixth-seeded Cardinals (7-7) take on four-time defending state champion Whitney Point, the No. 3 seed, in the quarterfinals. SVEC (6-7), seeded eighth, visits top-seeded Moravia (12-2). The Eagles handed Moravia one of its losses, a 3-0 shutout on Oct. 25.

The NV-Point winner plays the Greene-Sidney winner and the SVEC-Moravia winner meets the Harpursville-Deposit / Hancock winner.

There are only two Class B teams in Section IV, Afton (10-3) and Owego (7-9).

With the exception of the championship and Greene's quarterfinal game (5 p.m. start), all games are played at the home of the higher seed and are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. The finals will be played Oct. 27 at Vestal High School.
