IAC MODIFIED CROSS COUNTRY: SVEC'S GARRISON WINS INDIVIDUAL TITLE AT SOUTH DIVISION MEET (16 PHOTOS) (2018-10-10)

NEWARK VALLEY - SVEC's Jonathan Garrison won the modified boys race to lead the Eagles to a second place team showing at the IAC South Division Championship here Tuesday.

SVEC scored 45 points, trailing only Waverly which had 33. Newark Valley was third with 66.

Garrison's time was 9:07.6, almost 30 seconds faster than his nearest competitor.

The Eagles' Wyatt Stouffer finished ninth with a time of 10:21.7 and Nathan Gillette took 12th, clocking 10:42.6. Matthew Fitch placed 15th in 11:03.9 and Brian Belanger was 20th in 11:59.6.

Also competing for SVEC were Adon Bostwick, 25th (13:39.8) and William Belokur, 28th (15:51.8).

Pacing Newark Valley was John Fiacco, who placed sixth with a time of 10:01.7.  Anvil Illsley was 10th in 10:22, Gabe Benjamin finished 21st with a 12:03.5, Bryce Dunn clocked 12:21.8, good for 22nd, and Brody Hines was 26th in 15:07.

GIRLS
Newark Valley was second with 44 points, with Waverly scoring 25.

The Cardinals' Sarah Raymond placed second in 10:34.5. Brianna Hillman finished eighth with a time of 11:46.7, Harley Switzer was 12th in 12:34.7, Faith Payne took 15th in 13:29.2 and Abigail Groover finished 21st in 14:47.2.

Also competing for NV was Elizabeth Waterman, 22nd (15:29.2).
 
SVEC had an incomplete team with Olivia Secondo placing sixth (11:36.1) and Jackie Brown taking 18th (13:50.7).

Waverly's Michela Clymer was the individual winner with a time of 10:28.6.
