Caleb Marshall, a sophomore defensive lineman, and teammate Cole Reed came up big on goal line defense early in Alfred University's 55-7 rout of Buffalo State here Saturday.
After the Bengals drove 77 yards in 12 plays in the first quarter, Marshall and Reed stopped Buff State's Omar Robinson on a fourth-and-goal at the 1-yard line. The Saxons would respond with a 5-play, 99-yard touchdown drive to take the lead for good.
Alfred (4-1, 3-0) hosts fourth-ranked Brockport (5-0, 2-0 Empire 8) Saturday afternoon.
