THE WEEK AHEAD: FOOTBALL, OFA CROSS COUNTRY INVITE HEADLINE BUSY WEEK (2018-09-16)
Tioga County Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY - It's going to be a busy week - there are more than 40 events on the schedule.
As Week 4 of the football season begins, Owego and Spencer-Van Etten / Candor need victories in their respective divisional races.
Also on the docket is the annual OFA Invitational cross country meet - the only invite held in the county. If you're not all that interested in the running being held on the Pheasant Hill Country Club layout, you can always go take in the beautiful backdrop that is rural Tioga County.
Following are some, but not all, of this week's top clashes. (A complete
listing of all events for the week can be found on the school pages.)
MONDAY (6) • Newark Valley boys soccer gets another shot at Notre Dame. The Crusaders won the first one, 1-0.
•SVEC girls soccer visits Tioga.
TUESDAY (12)
• Owego field hockey heads to Tioga.
• Owego hosts Vestal in girls swimming and diving.
WEDNESDAY (7)
• Newark Valley girls soccer travels to Waverly for a key IAC divisional game.
THURSDAY (6)
• Owego entertains Norwich in girls tennis.
• Candor visits Newark Valley in volleyball.
FRIDAY (6)
• Owego hosts Chenango Valley in a divisional football battle.
SATURDAY (7)
• SVEC needs a win against unbeaten Newark Valley on the Cardinals' field.
• Teams from the STAC and IAC, and even Pennsylvania, head to Pheasant Hill Country Club for the annual OFA Invitational.
