CHENANGO FORKS - Seniors Nathan Bowers and Cameron Szabo finished in the top five to lead the Owego boys to the team title here Saturday at the McDaniel-Baxter Cross Country Invitational at Chenango Valley State Park.

The Indians claimed team crown with 56 placement points, while Montrose was second overall and first in the Small School ranks with 58 points. Waverly finished sixth overall and third in the Small School with 208 points.

Bowers clocked in a 14:14, and Szabo crossed the finish line in 14:48, while Windsor junior Josh Stone won the individual gold in 13:55, and Montrose senior Liam Mead was second in 14:02.

Senior Gavin Watkins finished finished 12th for the Indians in 15:05, while Lewis Race was 14th in 15:24, senior Eaan Hackett was 22nd in 15:42, junior Luke Maslin was 30th in 16:04, and senior Joel Choynowski was 37th in 16:08. Senior Ryan Johnson finished 78th in 17:34,

Sophomore Collin Wright led Waverly with a seventh-place finish in 14:59, and freshman Nate Ackley was 36th in 16:08.

LADY INDIANS FINISH THIRD
Senior Jenna Hunsinger was the Lady Indians' top finisher to help them to a third-place finish at the McDaniel-Baxter Invite.

Hunsinger clocked in at 19:25, while senior Brittany Sanguinto was 27th in 19:57, junior Chelsea Corey was 31st in 20:16, sophomore Hannah Monell was 32nd in 20:27, and senior Danielle Knapp was 35th in 20:43. Senior Avery Townsend finished 53rd in 23:00 for Owego,

JV BOYS
OWEGO WINS TEAM TITLE

Owego had four runners in the top eight en route to a junior varsity team title at the McDaniel-Baxter Invite.

Derek Sarrge finished third in 16:13 and James McDonald was fourth in 16:21, while Jason Barnes finished sixth in 16:40, and Owen Casterline was eighth in 17:08.

Hunter Ellis finished 12th in 17:28 for the junior Indians, while Alexander Brown was 16th in 17:38, Matthew Miller was 19th in 17:49, Tanner Pratt was 21st in 17:51, Nicholas Maslin was 24th in 17:55, and Gavin Bowers was 28th in 18:02.

Jacob Morris (18:29) and Jack Tredo (18:35) finished 36th and 37th, respectively, for Owego, while Justin Hunsinger was 46th in 19:03, Matthew Laubach was 48th in 19:14, Joseph Criscitello was 57th in 19:41, Dylan Pitcher was 59th in 19:43, Alexander Duke was 64th in 20:94, Michael Lawrence was 76th in 21:19, Benjamin Lewis was 90th in 22:55, Michael Thompson was 92nd in 23:07, and Logan Mead was 108th in 25:54.

OWEGO FINISHES SECOND

Marycarol Hoover finished second in a time of 20:54, and Ella Rieg was seventh in 21:55 to lead Owego to a second-place finish in the junior varsity girls portion of the McDaniel-Baxter Invite.

Alyssa Stephens finished ninth in 22:18 for the junior Lady Indians, Katherine Gatto was 15th in 24:03, Kaitlyn Gusse was 18th in 25:22, Alexandra Fisher was 25th in 28:10, and Alexandria Anderson was 26th in 28:10.

Owego hosts the Owego Invitational at Pheasant Hill Country Club Saturday.
