Tioga County Sports Report
OWEGO — Ryan Packard hurled a five-inning, one-hit shutout to lead the Oneonta Green Wave to a 12-0 win over Owego-Tioga County Post 401 here Monday night.
The Wave, 9-1-1 in American Legion play, spotted Packard a 10-0 advantage before he ever took the mound, riding a home run and three doubles to the big lead.
John Mikolaicyk, who finished the night with three hits, two runs and five RBI, delivered the dinger.
Post 401's lone hit came off the bat of Dylan Simpson, a two-out bunt down the third base line in the bottom of the third.
The understaffed O-TC team didn't help itself defensively, committing seven errors.
Packard struck out eight and issued just one base on balls.
Tonight's game at Cortland has been canceled. O-TC closes out the season with two more home games, against Seton Post 80 Wednesday and M-E Post 1700 Friday. Both games begin at 6 p.m.
