OWEGO — Binghamton Post 1645 scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning and two more in the seventh to defeat Owego-Tioga County Post 401, 9-5, here Tuesday.

Two singles and an error gave Binghamton a 7-5 advantage. A hit batter, an error and a base hit led to the insurance runs in the final frame.

Four errors proved costly for O-TC in a back-and-forth battle.

Post 1645 opened the scoring with a run in the first, but Owego tied it up in its half of the inning. Dylan Simpson led of with a walk, stole second, moved to third on Nate Bennett's base hit and scored on Derrick Gage's groundout.

In the third, Binghamton picked up two more runs, but Owego countered with three.

Simpson singled to the hole, stole two bases and scored on Jason Kithcart's single to left field. Nate Bennett walked and scored on the same hit, and Kithcart advanced to third on the throw home, which was off line and got past the catcher.

Binghamton plated two runs in the fourth for a 5-4 lead, but O-TC tied it up in the fifth on a Gage double and Kithcart single.

Simpson, Kithcart and Joe Higgins posted multiple hits for Tioga County. Simpson went 2-for-4 with two runs, Kithcart was 2-for-4 with a run and three RBI, and Higgins was 2-for-3. 

Gage went 1-for-3 with a run and RBI. Karson Tofte and Nick Prokop contributed one hit apiece, Bennett had a run and Brayden Ferris added an RBI.

Monday
Hillcrest Post 1194 13, O-TC 8
After surrendering three runs in the top of the first, Post 1194 scored seven consecutive runs in three innings. Owego rallied to tie the score in the fourth, but Hillcrest erupted for five runs in the fifth.

Four errors haunted Owego, which held Hillcrest to six hits.

Owego pounded out 11 hits, paced by Kyle Lebarge's 4-for-4 performance. He drove in one run. Simpson went 2-for-3 with two runs and Bennett was 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Ferris was 1-for-3 with a run and two RBI. Mitch Taylor scored twice, Karson Tofte had a hit and RBI, Brandon Hoyt had a hit and a run, and Jack Symons added an RBI.

Tioga County plays Homer Thursday at a site to be determined.
