YOUTH BASEBALL: OWEGO-APALACHIN PICKS UP 5TH WIN (16 PHOTOS) (2019-06-18)

Tioga County Sports Report
ENDICOTT — Owego-Apalachin scored four runs in the fourth inning en route to a 7-4 victory over ETL-Voorhees in Tri County Teener League 14U action here Monday evening.

Ethan Perry started the surge with a walk and stolen base to start the inning. With one away, Danny Schofield singled and stole second, and Jack Rollison walked and stole second. Nate Armstrong reached on a throwing error by the pitcher and all four players would score runs to help Owego build a 5-0 cushion.

Owego added a run in the sixth after Bradley Palmer worked a base on balls and stole two bases, and another in the seventh when Ethan Nichols singled and stole two bases.

Conan Taylor would drive in the game’s initial run on a fielder’s choice after Ben Rollison and Ethan English led off the top of the third with singles.

Taylor also picked up the save, striking out the final batter in the fourth to squelch an Endicott rally. ETL had scored twice and had runners first and second with two away when Taylor took over.

He retired eight in a row before an error, walk, hit batter and a double closed the gap to 7-4 in the bottom of the seventh. He fanned the final batter, his seventh K of the night, to end the game.

Starter Peyton Farrell earned the win, going 3 2/3 innings. He retired seven of the first 10 batters he faced, and two of the three who reached safely were thrown out attempting to steal. Farrell struck out five, and gave up two hits and three walks.

ETL closed the gap to 4-2 in the fourth on the strength of a walk, an error and a hit.

Ben Rollinson led Owego at the plate with two hits, and English and Taylor had one hit apiece. Perry, Palmer, Nichols and Ben Rollison contributed two stolen bases apiece, and Schofield, Nate Armstrong and Talan Schumacher added one theft each.

Owego-Apalachin (5-1) visits Deposit / Hancock Wednesday at 6 p.m.
