8TH ANNUAL STRAWBERRY SHAKE FUN RUN/WALK SET FOR FRIDAY (2019-06-11)

OWEGO — The 8th annual Strawberry Shake 5K Run/Walk will be held Friday at the Tioga County Office Building Property at Academy Street and 56 Main Street here.

A one-mile kids’ run (ages 3-10) begins at 5:30 p.m. and the 5K begins at 6:15 p.m.

The deadline for preregistration is Thursday at 11:59 a.m.  After this time, registration will close until Friday at 2 p.m. On race day, registration will be open at the race site from 2-5:15 p.m. for the kids' race and 2:-6 p.m. for the 5K .

The 5K preregistered entry fee is $25 for individuals and $20 for a team of four or more, and $10 for the kids’ run but ends today. Beginning Wednesday, the fee is $30 for individuals, $25 for teams of four or more and $15 for kids.

Awards will be presented for first, second and third place to the overall male and female winners, and top three in each age group — 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & older. Prizes will also be awarded for the kids’ run.

T-shirts, water, fruit, food, coupons and more will be offered to runners post-race (T-shirts while supplies last and must be picked up on race day).

On-site and on-street parking will be very limited. Parking is available at Marvin Park. For more information go to http://www.owego.org/festival-parking.

Race directors reserve the right to reject any entry for any reason. The race is partly run with traffic on a state highway, so dogs are forbidden. Jogging strollers are allowed. Those observing poor manners towards motorists or not obeying the traffic marshals will be disqualified. The race has been certified by USA Track & Field. There are no refunds for cancellations.

All proceeds will benefit the Owego-Apalachin Central School District cross country team and other OACSD youth sports.
