OWEGO — Ryan Johnson picked up the win on the mound and impressed at the plate as Owego rode a 10-run uprising to a 12-5 STAC victory over Johnson City here Thursday.

Johnson went 3-for-3 with four RBI to pace the offense and was equally impressive on the hill, scattering four hits over five innings without giving up an earned run.

Behind, 2-1, the Indians erupted for 10 runs in the bottom of the third inning to take control of the game. Johnson doubled in two runs, Nate Bennett hit an RBI single, Jason Kithcart and Daniel Schofield had RBI doubles, Kyle Koprevich singled in a run, then Johnson came to the plate again and singled home two more runs. Owego also picked up two runs on an error.

Mason Rieg singled and scored on a Kithcart groundout for a 1-0 edge in the first.

After Owego took an 11-2 advantage, the Wildcats would pick up three more runs in the fourth. The Indians would respond with a run in their half of the fourth. Jack Symons would walk, steal second and third, and score on Karson Tofte’s sacrifice fly.

Owego had nine hits on the day. In addition to Johnson’s trio, Rieg, Bennett, Kithcart, Schofield, Koprevich and Joey Higgins contributed one apiece. Ring Johnson and Higgins scored two runs apiece, and Kithcart drove in two.

Johnson struck out five and walked two and Symons fanned two and walked one in two innings of relief.
