WATKINS GLEN — Owego outscored Watkins Glen, 8-0, in the second period to break open a tie game and highlight a 12-goal run during a 17-5 victory here Thursday.

With the score knotted at two, Tyler Phelps put away a pass from Ben Miller just one minute into the second quarter, putting the Indians up for good.

Miller followed up 51 seconds later with an assist by Luke Maslin. Maslin, who finished the game with three goals and four assists, scored unassisted at 9:43 to make it 5-2.

Connor Kinney, who matched Maslin’s stats, assisted on the next three goals — by Cole Taylor at 9:16, Maslin at 7:01 and again by Taylor at 5:16 — to give the Indians an 8-2 advantage.

Owego would tack on two more goals in an eight-second span before halftime. Kinney would pick up his initial goal on a feed from Phelps at 4:05 and Maslin scored on a pass from Jo Race at 3:57.

Maslin and Race hooked up again for the first goal of the second half with Race scoring at 10:14, and Race tallied unassisted at 6:34 to give the Indians a 10-goal cushion at 12-2.

Kinney assisted on the next goal, giving Taylor a hat trick at 5:54, and Jaden Buckingham passed to Cooper Phelps for a goal at 4:21 to cap a run of 12 consecutive goals.

The Senecas finally got back on the scoreboard with 3:15 remaining in the third quarter with Brandon Beaumont making it 14-3, but Tyler Phelps pushed the lead back to a dozen on a pass from Maslin at 2:03.

Cooper Phelps scored unassisted 49 seconds into the final period, then Watkins Glen responded with back-to-back goals. Joe Chedzoy earned a hat trick with an unassisted tally at 8:56 and Seamus Mooney scored unassisted at 7:12, cutting the lead to 16-5.

Kinney scored the final goal of the evening with 5:56 to go with an assist by Tyler Phelps.

Owego (3-3) hosts Horseheads at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
