YOUTH WRESTLING: TWO TIOGA COUNTY WRESTLERS WIN MAWA NORTH REGION TITLES (2019-04-04)

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — Two Tioga County wrestlers won individual titles at the Middle Atlantic Wrestling Association North Regionals last weekend.

Candor 7th-grader Ousmane Duncanson, who wrestled for the SVEC varsity team this past season, claimed top honors in the Intermediate division at 120 pounds.

Waverly youth standout Declan McKee reached the top of the podium in Junior 58.

Two others qualified for the Eastern National Championships by placing among the top four. Candor’s Jayden Duncanson was the runner-up in Junior 78. Waverly’s Garrett Skeens, a Section IV Division II place-winner and IAC champion at 120 this past season, took fourth in Advanced 125.

Three more locals placed among the top six. Waverly’s Gage Tedesco took fifth at Advanced 189, Spencer’s Caden Ruben was sixth in Intermediate 75 and John Fanning of Spencer placed sixth in Open 142.

The nationals will be held May 4-5 in Salisbury, Maryland.
