Tioga County Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY - There was talent abound on the girls basketball courts this season. When all was said and done, Owego guard Kaci Donovan emerged as the 2018-19 Tioga County Sports Report Girls Basketball "Player of the Year."

The Indians' Evee Coleman was selected "Defensive Player of the Year" and Newark Valley's Gracie Gardner was chosen the "Newcomer of the Year" for the 2018-19 All-Tioga County Girls Basketball Team. Owego head coach Luke McEvoy was named "Coach of the Year."

Donovan averaged 25.8 points per game, connected for 30 3-pointers and shot 78 percent at the free throw line. She also contributed 6.8 rebounds, 3.8 steals, 3.7 assists and 0.7 blocks per game.

She eclipsed the 1,000-point mark early in the season, and set school records for points in a season (542), points in a game (35) twice and field goals in a season (205). The record-setting junior will take her talents to Penn State following graduation in 2020.

Coleman was dominant in the paint at both ends of the court. The sophomore forward averaged 7.3 defensive rebounds, 3.3 blocks and 1.8 steals per outing, and established new school records for blocked shots in a game (10) and a season (65).  She also set a new school mark for single season field goal percentage at 62 percent.

On the offensive end, she averaged 17.1 points and 3.1 boards per game, giving her a double-double in scoring and total rebounds.

Donovan, Coleman and Owego senior guard Anna Felice were named to the STAC all-star team earlier this week.

Gardner, a freshman forward, was an IAC South Large School second-team selection. She averaged 7.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, 0.7 assists and 0.7 steals as the Cardinals went 16-4 overall an tied state finalist Watkins Glen for second place in the division.

McEvoy guided the Indians to an undefeated regular season (18-0) and the STAC Metro title. Owego went 19-2 overall and posted runner-up finishes in both the STAC and Section IV Class B.
