TIOGA COUNTY - You've heard the adage "save the best for last." Well, Newark Valley's Kyle Pratt took that to heart - and it earned him the honor of 2018-19 Tioga County Sports Report Boys "Bowler of the Year."

Tioga freshman Rocco Fariello headlines a solid group of first-year varsity bowlers, earning the "Newcomer of the Year' honor.

Pratt, a senior, carried a 196 average into the post-season. At that point, he stepped up his game in the Section IV Class C tournament and Section IV Division 2 State Qualifier, averaging 221 over nine games (1991 series) to win the individual gold and capture the top spot on the section's all-star team. He would also lead that group in the state Composite championships, placing 10th out of 66 bowlers with a 214 average for six games (1286 series), breaking 200 five times.

He was one of three bowlers named to the 2018-19 All-Tioga County Boys Bowling Team made the sections 7-man all-star squad. Tioga's Kolton Pond earned the No. 6 spot and Owego's Qwinten Adams went as an alternate.

Pratt posted a 279 high game and 706 high series during the regular season, and was an IAC second-team all-star. He joined Alex and Sam Umiker, who are cousins, to lead the Cardinals to the IAC Large School title and third place in the league tournament.

Fariello finished the season with a 160 average over 48 games, and posted a 213 high game and a 565 high series. He ranked No. 7 in the lineup for the Tigers, one of four IAC teams to carry a 12-player roster.
