Tioga County Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY - There are two big basketball games on today's docket as the Owego girls and boys teams host Section IV Class B semifinal contests.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
No. 4 Waverly (20-1) at No. 1 Owego (18-1), 5:30 p.m.: IAC Large School champion Waverly defeated defending state champ Susquehanna Valley in the quarterfinals, 61-45. The Indians haven't played since the STAC championship game Feb. 15 and some haven't played since Feb. 6 - eight players were on a music trip to Florida.
The victor meets the winner of No. 2 Norwich (19-1) and No. 3 Oneonta (14-6) Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Floyd L. Maines Arena in Binghamton.
BOYS BASKETBALL
No. 4 Norwich (13-6) at No. 1 Owego (17-3), 7:15 p.m.: The Indians ran away from Dryden early in a 72-40 quarterfinal rout while the Purple Tornado turned away Susquehanna Valley, 67-61.
The winner faces the winner of No. 2 Seton Catholic Central (18-3) and No. 3 Oneonta (14-5) Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Floyd L. Maines Arena in Binghamton.
