WOMEN'S COLLEGE TRACK & FIELD: NV GRAD BAKER PERFORMING WELL IN PENTATHLON (2019-02-26)

SYRACUSE - SUNY Cortland freshman Molly Baker placed fifth in the pentathlon at the 2019 State University of New York Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday with 2,937 points.

The Newark Valley grad qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday at Ithaca College. She qualified in the pentathlon and high jump, clearing 5-2 1/4 during the pentathlon.

At the Ithaca College tri-meet Feb. 17, Baker placed fourth in the high jump at 4-11. She placed fifth in the high jump at the Cornell Sunday Invitational Feb. 10 with a height of 4-11.

Baker hit an AARTFC qualifying mark in the pentathlon at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational Feb. 2 with 2,852 points. Her top event was the high jump, where she scored 689 points for hitting 5-1 1/2, and she tallied 637 points in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.41. She finished eighth out of 21 participants.
