COLLEGE WRESTLING: OWEGO GRAD BELL TAKES 7TH AT REGIONALS (2019-02-26)

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The College at Brockport senior Jackson Bell, an Owego grad, posted a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals held here Friday and Saturday.

Competing at 165 pounds, Bell opened the tournament with a 13-2 major decision over 31-match winner William Sims of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. He fell to Austin Whitney of Ithaca College in the quarterfinals, 4-0.

In the wrestlebacks, he rebounded to nip Kevin Merle of the University of Scranton, 8-7, but lost by a fall in 4:09 against Alec Donovan of Centenary University (New Jersey). He received a medical forfeit over Demitreus Henry of SUNY Cortland in the seventh-place bout. Bell finished the season with an 18-15 record.
