SECTION IV BOYS BASKETBALL: CANDOR SEASON ENDS WITH LOSS TO MORAVIA (2019-02-23)

MORAVIA - Candorís season came to an end here Wednesday evening with a 62-49 loss to second-seeded Moravia in the Section IV Class C first-round playoffs.

The Blue Devils built a 10-6 lead after one period of play and led 22-17 at halftime.

Moravia would score 20 points in each of the final two quarters to create additional space.

Gavin Stayton led all scorers with 18 points, hitting a pair of 3-pointers and going 6-for-9 at the free throw line for the Devils (18-3).

Deegan Sovocool and Kaden Hooper added 14 and 13 points, respectively. Scottie Sovocool had nine points and Josh Cespedes added eight more. Both players connected for two treys apiece.

Kolden Foster led the Indians with 14 points, and Nick Thomas and Shawn Watson chipped in with 10 apiece. Caleb Vaow had five, Daniel Thomas four, Kevin Cotton three, Alex Doucett two and Brayden Ferris had one.

The Indians finished their season with a 9-12 record.
