YOUTH BASKETBALL: SAYRE-BASED NORTHERN TIER STEAM HOSTING TRY-OUTS FOR GIRLS 9TH- THROUGH 11TH-GRADE (2019-02-19)
Tioga County Sports ReportSAYRE - The Northern Tier Steam will be
holding try-outs for girls in 9th- through 11th-grade the first weekend
of March for their inaugural travel basketball season will run through
the first weekend of June.
Practices will be held two or three
times per week in Sayre, Athens, or Waverly. There will be six weekend
tournament with an average travel of 2 1/2 hours. The Steam will compete
in two "very local" and four "overnight" tournaments.
It is
required to register ($16) on the AAU website for insurance purposes in
order to participate in any tryout, practice, or game. It will give you
an AAU number please bring that to the try-out.

The
$300 tournament fee will be broken into two parts, Half due at the
beginning of April, the other half due by the beginning of May.
A $100 "facility fee" is due by the end of the season, or at your earliest convenience.
"The
Northern Steam's mission is to give female student athletes a chance to
play more basketball," said team founder Dennis Randall. "The Steam is
dedicated to aid you in reaching your goals as a player whether it's for
the upcoming season, college aspirations, or just because you love the
game.
"We want to assist you in growing as a student-athlete by
building your confidence through community involvement, skills, and
strength training," noted Randall.
All school-related spring sports and activities are a priority for the student-athlete, added Randall.
