NEWARK VALLEY - Technically, it was Senior Recognition Night at Newark Valley. However, the Cardinals affectionately dubbed it "Tressa Night" in honor of their lone senior, Tressa Nechwedowich. She would be one of two NV players to score in doubles figures in a 58-22 IAC South Large School win over Edison here Tuesday night.
Newark Valley blanked the Spartans in the first quarter to grab a 16-0 advantage. By halftime, it was 34-6. Nechwedowich had nine of her 11 points by the break, seven coming in the second quarter.
Bri Beebe scored four points in the opening period and four more in the second. She hit a pair of 3-pointers in the second half, one in each quarter, and finished with a game-high 14 points. She also had five steals and two assists.
